Describing Teachers

Imagen
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! We are almost finished as we are on our third and last register of this semester and we are actually beggining with something quite similar as last register. Today we are not describing learners, but their teachers so lets begin. 1. Teacher's role in the classroom  A. Controller Leading from the front. B. Prompter When students forget something, such as the instructions of a task, the teacher is there to remind them. C. Participant Taking an active role; for example, in a class discussion. D. Resource When students ask the teacher’s help. For example, when they don’t know how the meaning of a word. E. Tutor When giving feedback about a large project. 2. The teacher as an organizer Teachers must be aware of how to organize their class before teaching, not only that but even the classroom if necessary so the whole structure of the class is well prepared and taught. 3. Rapport  In essence, rapport means “the relationship ...

Describing learners

Welcome back to my final blog of this semester (better late than never XD) For this final entry I would share with you the different ways in which we can differentiate and describe the type of learners there are Ages Young children Those children up to the ages of 9 or 10 learn differently from older children, adolescents, and adults in the following ways: - They respond to meaning even if they do not understand individual words. - They often learn indirectly rather than directly. - Their understanding comes from what they see, hear, and – crucially – from what they have the chance to touch and interact with Adolescents:  They tend to be disruptive learners, yet when they find the purpose of the activity, they are often successful at it and are engaged and passionate when they like what they are being taught. And when they feel comfortable, they are willing to talk about their experiences.  - They are usually regarded as problematic students; however, when they f...

Learning Styles

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog!! This is my penultimate entry were I would cover the different learning styles there are out there and also the VARK.  First we need to understand that the  VARK (Visual, Aural, Read and Write/ Kinesthetic)  model was proposed in 1992 by Neil Fleming and Colleen Mills.  For this class specifically we had to use the VARK to explain a topic of our preference, and we selected the topic of Naturilistic Intelligence to apply the VARK.  Here is a picture of our group presentation :D Now moving on into every type of learner that is in the VARK: Visual: Visual learners understand and retain information best by seeing. They would prefer to see information presented in a visually appealing way, rather than in a written format. Auditory: Auditory learners tend to learn information best by hearing it. Rather than getting actively involved in a class or writing out notes, they prefer to listen to others present the information an...

Multiple Intelligences presentations round 3

Imagen
Welcome back to my blog! For this entry I'm gonna cover the last presentations of multiple intelligences Intrapersonal Intelligence  This group was composed by Andres, Noe, Giselle and Alexia.  People with this type of intelligence are good at self-reflection and are aware of their own strengths, weaknesses, feelings and emotions. They are very intuitive and independent, as they know themselves better, know how to apply their learning to everyday activities and know how to identify their emotions well. Some activities to develop intrapersonal intelligence can be journaling, storytelling, writing an autobiography for people who like to write, and meditation.   The benefits people can gain from these activities are understanding how to work with oneself, having greater compassion, having personal growth, and developing the ability to try new things and become a positive person. Naturalist Intelligence   This group was composed by  Gustavo, Nidia, Elizab...

Presentations Round 1 and 2

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog!! Before I begin I have to admit that I made a mistake, as I already talked about Visual Spatial intelligence's presentation on my previous entry XD. So for this entry I'm only covering the  Mathematical, Kinesthetic, Linguistic and Musical Intelligences presentations.  1. Logical Mathematical Intelligence  The first group that presented on Tuesday was composed by  Herrera, Maru, Clarita, Katherine, and Damaris. They explained the Mathematical Intelligence, t his is the ability to understand numbers, reasoning, and comprehension of how something works, mostly logical problem patterns. People that use logical intelligence base on facts instead of emotions and common sense is something that they use to make decisions  Finally some of the activities to develop this intelligence are puzzles, board games, coding, solving tricky situations, among others. 2. Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence This was actually my group and our ...
